Die "Fashion Week" in Berlin geht langsam zu Ende, Zeit also, noch was thematisches für den Schluss bei zu steuern. Genau richtig ist dafür "The Fashion Show - Slave To The Rythm" von Grace Jones. Das Stück erschien natürlich 1985 auf der auf ihrer LP "Slave To The Rythm"...

YOU'RE O.K. - OTTAWAN

Wer kennt nicht "D.I.S.C.O" oder "Hands Up" von "Ottawan". Ein anderer Hit, durchaus Charmant wenngleich sehr simple arrangiert, ist "You're O.K." aus dem jahr 1980. Hinter Ottawan stecken übrigens die Produzenten Daniel Vangarde und Jean Kluger, die auch die "Gibson Brothers" im Programm hatten. Daniel Vangarde ist übrigens Vater von Thomas Bangaltar von Daft Punk...

A mayor Hit in Europe in 1979 was D.I.S.C.O of "Ottawan". Their next single was the very simple but charming "You're O.K." in 1980, which was reaching also high chart-ratings all over europe. Behind the name "Ottawan" are hiding the producers Daniel Vangarde and Jean Kluger. By the way, Vangarde is the father of Thomas Bangaltar, member of Daft punk...

REFLECTIONS (12") - EBONY

Der Titel "Reflections" der Supremes wurde unzählige mal gecovert. Auch von einer deutschen Studioformation namens "Ebony", von der ich schon mal "Don't Boogie Mr. Tango" von 1976 geposted hab. Hier nun ihre schon musikalisch sehr auf den Pfaden der 80er wandelnde Interpretation von "Reflections" aus dem Jahr 1980...

The Song "Reflections", originally sung by the Supremes, was covered for several times in several decades. Also a german studio-formation called "Ebony" did it in 1980. Not bad, more Pop than Disco. Another song i posted of Ebony was "Don't Boogie Mr. Tango" made in 1976...

Paris I

Heute trete ich die erste Reise meines Lebens in die französische Hauptstadt an. Zeit sich also einer Woche lang thematisch an Paris zu orientieren. Und los gehts Mit Ryan Paris. Sein Hit "Dolce Vita", der inhaltlich Bezug zu dem legendären Film Fellinis "La Dolce Vita" nimmt, war in Europa 1983 ein echter Kassenknüller. In den U.S.A ist mir nichts von größerer Resonanz oder sogar Veröffentlichung bekannt. Über Feedback seitens meiner Leser von dort wie der Track dort so ankommt wäre ne interessante Sache (-> Kommentare).

Today i go on my first trip ever to the french capital. Time to start a week of postings which have a relation to Paris. So i beginn with Ryan Paris who is responible for the fantastic "Dolce Vita", a real Chartbreaker all over Europe in 1983. By the way, the text of this song is inspired by the legendary movie "La Dolce Vita" of Fellini. I am not sure ff the track was published in the U.S, so please, if you are a visitor from there, leave a comment what you are thinking about "Dolce Vita". It would be interesting...

DON'T COME BACK - THE NICK STRAKER BAND

Die Nick Straker Band ist allgemein ja durch ihren Megahit "A Walk In The Park" bekannt. Mit auf der dazugehörgen LP "Future's Above My Head" war auch der Titel "Don't Come Back", welcher an damals modernen synthi-effekten auffährt was zu haben war. Nicht schlecht, jedoch nicht gut genug für die Fortsetzung des Erfolges von "A Walk In The Park". Nick Straker verschwand samt Band als "One Hit Wonder" wieder in der Versenkung...

The Nick Straker Band had in 1979 with "A Walk In The Park" a huge hit in Europe. The band published soon after this succes the LP "Future's Above My Head" on which is also the up-to-date synthie track "Don't Come Back" on. Nice, but not nice enough for repeating the first success. Nick Straker and his Band had lost their audience so fast as they had found it...
