ANGELINA - CERRONE

Absoluter Gott des Eurodisco ist nicht nur nach meinem Verständnis Cerrone. Ein ausgezeichnetes Team von Studiomusikern, eine hübsch anzusehende und nicht weniger entzückend trällernde Backgroundcrew (the Paris Birds) und aussergewöhnlich erotische wie wegweisende Coverdesigns (die vorallem in den USA durch harmlosere Varianten ersetzt wurden) waren die Ingridenzien von Cerrones Erfolg.

Die LP Angelina (Cerrone V) war ein musikalischer Wendepunkt für Cerrone. Zwar blieb er der Tanzmuski treu, aber nun gings deutlich rockiger zur Sache. Zur Unterstützung kamen sogar Musiker von Toto dazu. Auch den Aufnahmeort wechselte Cerrone, erstmals ging es zur Aufnahme in die Vereinigten Staaten. Eine Kostprobe aus diesem Werk ist das von ihm selbst gesungene Titelstück Angelina....

The Godfather of Euro-Disco is surely Cerrone. A magnificent Team of Studiomusicians, nice looking and not less good singing backgroundgirls (the Paris Birds) and extraordinary erotic and pathbreaking Coverdesigns (often changed for the U.S market) were the ingredients of Cerrones success.

The LP Angelina (Cerrone V) is often regarded as a turning point in his musical direction. The influence of Rock was obviously (musicians of Toto were parts of his team now) and also the place of recording changed from Europe to the U.S, namely from Paris and London to Los Angeles.
