WONDERLAND LOVE THEME - THE WONDERLAND BAND

Ein sehr schöner Titel zum Ausklang einer langen DJ-Disco-Nacht ist meines erachtens das "Wonderland Love Theme" der "Wonderland Band". Der Song ist auf deren LP "Wonder Woman" erschienen, welche sich vom ersten bis zum letzten Titel durch besonders hohe musikalische Qualität auszeichnet. Aufgenommen 1978, erschienen im Jahre 1979...

In my eyes a wonderful track for the ending of a long DJ-Disco-Gig is the "Wonderland Love Theme" of the "Wonderland Band". The Song was published on the LP "Wonder Woman", one of the rare disco albums which is constantly perfect from the first to the last track. Recorded in 1978, published in 1979...

BODY TO BODY - GEPY & GEPY

"Body to Body" von "Gepy & Gepy" ist eleganter Discosound aus Italien. Erschienen im Jahre 1979 auf der gleichnamigen LP "Body to Body", produziert von Geoff Bastow, seineszeichens erfolgreicher Macher hinter den Kulissen einiger bekannter Discostücke. Der größere Hit auf der LP "Body to Body" war übrigens "African Love Song"...

"Body to Body" of "Gepy & Gepy" is elegant Discosound from Italy. Published in 1979 on the LP "Body to Body" and Produced by Geoff Bastow, who worked for example together with Giorgio Moroder and Amanda Lear . By the way, the biggest Hit on the LP "Body to Body" was "African Love Song"...

NEED-A-MAN BLUES - DONNA SUMMER

Als Donna Summer 1975  ihre LP "Love to Love You Baby" veröffentlichte, sollte ihr der Weltruhm sicher sein. Mit auf jener Platte befindet sich auch der in Vergessenheit geratene, aber wirklicht gute Song "Need-A-Man-Blues". Ein sehr kühles, hinreisend laszives und irgendwie schmutziges Stück das keinem Discofan entgehen sollte.

When Donna Summer published in 1975 her LP "Love to Love You Baby", her worldwide success was for sure. On this record is also a forgotten masterpiece sung by her: the track "Need-A-Man-Blues". A really untypical and sexy song with nice arrangements. Beside "Love to Love You..." surely the best of her early days...

SUMMER NIGHT CITY (UNPUBLISHED LONG VERSION) - ABBA

Auch ABBA blieb von der Discowelle nicht unberührt, und so gibt es einen Schwung Lieder der herzigen Gruppe aus Schweden die durchaus als Disco - und zwar als ausgezeichenten - durchgehen dürfen. So z.B. auch "Summer Night City". Hier gepostet wird eine ziemlich unbekannte Variante des Hits aus dem Jahre 1978, bei der noch  eine von Benny gesungene Einleitung dabei ist. 

Also ABBA was getting involved during their years in the disco-buisness, and so the hearty group from Sweden made a range of songs that are truely disco. For example: "Summer Night City". My post here is a relatively unknown variant with an introduction sung by Benny.

LOVE STORY (DISCO 12") - ANDY WILLIMAS

Als Andy Willimas 1971 die Titelmusik des Kassenschlagers "Love Story" von Francis Lai (1970) interpretierte, wurde dies zu einem seiner größten Erfolge. Bereits im Jahre 1979 entscheid sich Williams zu einer Neuaufnahme im zeitgemäßen Discokleid, just zu einem Zeitpunkt, als image-ähnliche Konkurrenten wie z.B. Jack Jones diese Strategie mit ihren größten Hits ebenfalls verfolgten. 

Letztlich kann sich Andy Williams Neuauflage durchaus hören lassen, sie überzeugt durch eine gute Mischung aus dramatischen Arrangements, stimmlicher Brillianz und und netten Synthetic-Zugaben. Der Song erschein übrigens nur als Maxi!

In 1971 Andy Willimas had a huge success with the famous song "Love Story" of the french composer Francis Lai. In 1979 Williams decided to produce a new variant in an up-to-date disco-style, maybe inspired by the way his competitor Jack Jones did it with "Wifes and Lovers".

This disco-esque Love Story is not half so cheesy as the orignial variant, it has a dramatic arrangement, the brilliant voice of Williams and some nice synthi-effects. This "Love Story" was only published as 12".

DOIN' YOUR OWN THING - TANGERUE

Bereits im Januar gab es einen Titel aus der LP Tangerue von Tangerué, heute folgt ein weiterer. Das Stück ist ein gutes Beispiel für die besonders aufwendig und gut gemachten End-Discostücke des jahres 1979.

Already in January i posted a track of the LP Tangerue by Tangerué, today i post another one. This track is a good example for the high-quality tracks made in 1979 short before "the death" of Disco.
