Die beiden liebreizenden Damen sind jadurch "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie" aus der LP "Baccara" von 1977 - auf der Granada ebenso veröffentlicht wurde - hinlänglich bekannt...

After a short summer-break for me i will post today something new. Hopefully the summer hasn't come to an end yet, so i use the heatwave in Berlin for posting a song of Baccara. This two hearty ladies from Spain made a magnificent disco-version of the song "Granada" in 1977 and published it on their LP "Baccara" together with the megaseller "Yes Sir, I Can Boogie"...

ONCE UPON A TIME - DONNA SUMMER

Donna Summer ist heute Abend zu Gast in Berlin. Genau richtig also, den etwas vergessenen Songs aus ihrem Reportoire zu gedenken. Hier also "Once Upon A Time" aus der Doppel-LP "Once Upon A Time..." von 1977. Das Album ist nach erprobtem Summer-Konzept als Themen-LP gestaltet, auf der Donna sich als Märchenprinzessin auf Discopfaden inszeniert.

Donna Summer is tonight in Berlin. Just the right moment for remembering her forgotten songs like "Once Upon A Time". This one was published on her double-LP "Once Upon A Time..." in 1977, an interesting concept-album preparing the cinderella story for the dancefloor.

MAGIC MOON - OVERDRIVE

Kürzlich bekam ich post von einem Disco-DJ aus Russland der mich nach der Gruppe "Overdrive" und ihrer LP "Electric Overdrive" fragte. Dazu ist zu sagen, dass jene in Deutschland 1980 entstandene LP wirklich extrem selten und eigentlich heute völlig unbekannt ist. Trotzdem hat man selbst jenseits des Eisernen Vorhangs davon Notiz genommen. Hier kommt also nun Overdrive mit "Magic Moon"...

Some days ago i received a mail from Russia. A Disco-DJ asked me, if i have the LP "Electric Overdrive" of Overdrive made in 1980 here in Germany. And of course, i own this rare and nowadays totally unknown record. Surprisingly, even in the days of the "Iron Curtain" relatively unpopular records and bands of the West found their way to Sowjet-Russia. Here now "Magic Moon" of "Overdrive"...

SHAKE IT - BROOKLYN DREAMS

Der Film "Foxes" - ein wirklich grandios bitter-suesser Streifen mit Jodie Foster aus dem Jahr 1980 - ist ein echtes Soundtrack-Juwel. Neben grossen Namen wie Cher (Bad Love) oder Donna Summer (On The Radio) findet sich auch der Song "Shake It" auf der Doppel-LP "Foxes", die von Giorgio Moroder im besten "Munich Sound" kreiert wurde. Songschreiber war uebrigens Bruce Sudano, der spätere Ehemann von Donna Summer, der bei "Brooklyn Dreams" mit von der Partie war. Viel Vergnuegen damit!

The movie "Foxes" - a magnificent and bitter-sweet creation with a young Jodie Foster - has an excellent double-LP soundtrack made by Giorgio Moroder. Beside Stars like Cher (Bad Love) or Donna Summer (On The Radio), the group "Brooklyn Dreams" is performing the song "Shake It", a classic masterpiece of the famous munich sound. By the way, Bruce Sudano - the husband of Donna Summer and member of Brooklyn Dreams - had written the songtext.

TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT - NORMAN CONNORS

Schwungvoll ging es bei "Take it to the limit" von Norman Connors zu. Vielleicht ein bisschen viel gesangliche Dominanz, aber eigentlich nicht schlecht. Aber hört selbst. Der Song ist übrigens von der LP "Take it to the limit" aus dem Jahr 1980...
